Sit and go and and a bit of snow

After a bad few days at the cash tables, I was feeling a little low about my game, and was lacking in confidence, so I retreated back to my safe haven of the sit and go tournament tables for a bit of variety.
I am nowhere near the stage where I can shrug off bad beats lightly - I still want to throw the laptop at the dog at the moment - and I need to work on that (especially considering the fact that I don't own a dog).
And I have found that there are quite a few things that I have learnt at the cash tables that I can take across - punishing limpers being my favourite activity, along with a few deftly timed check raises (and one or two not so deftly timed check raises). I know that whilst playing tournaments you have to put in a lot of volume to have a clear picture of where you stand - so that is what I have been trying to do, and so far so good.
"Volume beats Variance" is my new motto (part of the lesser known "paper/scissors/stone/volume/variance" game) and I have been trying to 4 table as much as I can when playing, and am trying to play around a hundred tournaments per week. I think this is achievable - but only time will tell.
Another thing I am trying to work on is my mentality. I do tend to have a very short term outlook on my game - a good week and I am a good player - a bad week and I am a bad player, where I should be taking a look at the bigger picture, which is actually quite encouraging. And I am nowhere near the stage where I can shrug off bad beats lightly - I still want to throw the laptop at the dog at the moment - and I need to work on that (especially considering the fact that I don't own a dog). Poker is, and always will be a long term game, and dealing with frustration is one of the key things that sets apart the very good players from the rest - and I want a piece of the poker pie!
Away from the tables, I have (like everyone else) been keeping an eye on the weather. We did, as a family, build a snowman - and despite a pronounced lean and lack of a mouth (meaning that either his head would fall off or he would die of hunger) he is surviving - and doing a great job of ruining my favourite scarf. He hasn't had to deal with the kettle yet though....

How to play an STT - by Anthony Fish
One piece of advice I was given quite early on in my poker career was to try and get into the mind of my opponents. Here I try to get into the mind of a very weak STT player. I...
