Phil Ivey's dream of winning bracelet number eight came to an abrupt end when his hands was outflopped by logger Darvin Moon.
It will be interesting to see what cards Ivey was dealt during his time at the final table as he never really managed to get out of first gear and was always one of the shorter stacks in play.
On hand 175 he looked down and found AcKs and open-shoved from early position. The action folded around to Moon in the big blind who quickly made the call with AdQs.
A timely double up looked on the cards for the world's best player but poker gods had other ideas and allowed Moon to spike a queen on a Qd6c6s flop. The 1,200 strong crowd stopped singling "Ivey! Ivey!" and begged the dealer for a king on the turn but their prayers went unanswered aas the 3c appeared.
Ivey seem uninterested and continued to eat an apple as once again the crowd willed a king to appear on the river. It was not to be as the 5c fell, eliminating Ivey and making Moon public enemy number one.
A number of pros, especially Andy Bloch, will be happy Ivey cannot win the 'Big Dance' as they stood to lose a lot of money if he did. Bloch stood to lose around $2,000,000. Ivey collects $1,404,014 for his efforts and we are down to six players.
