Every couple of months a new "face" appears at the high stakes tables to rub shoulders with the big names of online poker.

The usual story is that they go on some sort of heater and the railbirds go wild but then variance grabs a hold of them and they lose everything they initially won, plus more besides and disappear, never to be seen again.

October saw another one of these hopefuls enter the realm of the nosebleed stakes, Isildur1, but he never went on a heater, instead he immediately dropped a staggering $989,484.75 with $686,983 of that coming from just 4,508 hands of No-limit Hold'em!

Forum regulars criticised Isildur1, named after a Lord of the Rings character, for being too loose and careless and he must have taken note because he came back in early November and has started to crush all who stand before him.

From November 4-6 he managed to play over 10,000 hands, winning $562,803 in the process and most of this whilst 4-6 tabling no less that $200/$400 stakes against names such as Brian 'Stinger' Hastings and Cole 'CTS' South. Then on Monday he sat down with new red pro, Tom 'durrrr' Dwan at six, yes six tables of $500/$1000 No-limit Hold'em. Railbirds were finally going to see a match like The Durrrr Challenge should have been like.

Dwan then lost close to a million dollars again yesterday whilst this newcomer added another $700,000 to what must be a substantial bankroll. The two started playing another session today but Dwan did not have enough in his account to play 300bb deep as they had done yesterday, this was not a problem for Isildur1 though as he had over $2,300,000 in play on just two tables!

Some investigation on the Two Plus Two forums suggest Isildur1 is a player by the name of Viktor Blom, a high-stakes regular on a number of Euro-only sites. I am sure his real identity will come out in time but for now we can only ask the question, "Who is Isildur1?"
