As reported last week, a mystery Swedish player has burst onto the high-stakes scene and has been quite literally destroying all that dare to challenge him.
The general consensus on the forums was that the player in question, known only as Isildur1, was on a small heater and that once it was over players such as Tom 'durrrr' Dwan would comfortably beat him and win back their losses. How very wrong they were.
At time of writing, Isildur1 has played 65,676 hands in the past 13 days and has won a staggering $6,023,436.64! What is even more astonishing is that nearly half of these winnings have come from the pockets of 'durrrr' regarded by almost everyone as THE best online cash game player on the planet.
It is not only Dwan who has suffered at the hands of the mystery Swede, Patrik Antonius has lost close to $1,500,000, David Benyamine has suffered heavy losses and Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies said in the chat that he will no longer play Isildur1 heads-up after quickly losing $500,000 to him at $300/$600 Pot-limit Omaha.
Rumours are still rife about the real identity of Isildur1, with most fingers still pointing to Viktor Blom but Barry Greenstein threw a spanner in the works by going public and saying he is surprised how wrong the guess so far have been and that he knows who the player is but will not out him until he has been given the all-clear to do so.
Until that time comes we will have to refer to him as Isildur1 and watch in awe as he continues to take the well-known pro's money at an alarming rate.
