Why did you take up playing poker? Former Ryder Cup golfer Sam Torrance tells us on his Betfair blog that he played for something to do between rounds. Torrance gets the game and enjoys it.
Footballers have been known to play on the team coach as they journey to and from games. But how many of them play because a celebrity made poker look cool? True enough, most UK celebs are about as cool as a wasabi enema.
But over in the US, actress Jessica Biel is playing poker at the San Diego hotel. (Torrance has fine facial hair but Biel just edges it on the skin tones.) As one report says: "Biel was reportedly reluctant at first because she was 'intimidated' by the pros at the table, but the actress started 'to do really well,' according to a hotel source."
Can it be that Biel will turn others on to poker? Is Biel a latter day Cincinnati Kid? Or do celebrities, like Biel, who jump on the poker bandwagon make no impact on poker at all? Why did you start playing?
