Betfair Pro Annette Obrestad is through to the last 32 of the 2010 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship and will face Phil Hellmuth after beating the former baseball player Orel Hershiser in the opening round of the popular tournament.
The 64 payers were cut to 32 as former champions, popular poker faces and online qualifiers went head-to head playing No Limit Hold 'Em.
Annette's game proved a tactical affair with neither player getting it 'all-in' until the very last hand of the contest. Gradually grinding down her opponent, the deciding hand saw Annette's KQo ahead of her opponents 10d9d. A diamondless flop helped neither player with a Queen on the river sealing victory for the young Norwegian.
It was a day of relatively few surprises. Online qualifier Stephen Quinn knocked out former winner Ted Forrest while big names such as Tom Dwan and Patrick Antonius also hit the rail.
The next round takes place on Saturday evening (UK time) with Annette due to face either Doyle Brunson or Don Cheadle should she progress.
