SportsAid helps talented young sports people in the UK at an age when no-one else does. It is fundamentally about funding the next generation of athletes to help them realise their dreams and reach their full potential. As the UK's pre-eminent sports charity, SportsAid is the first organisation to say 'yes' to these young people. Since 1976 it has distributed over £30 million though a grants programme which helps individual athletes with costs such as travel, training, accommodation and equipment.
SportsAid is Betfair’s official charity partner. The two have been working together throughout 2007 and 2008 to raise funds. Betfair will then match what is raised each year up to £125,000, meaning that SportsAid are likely to benefit from a half a million pound boost. Fundraising activity has included sponsorship of the SportsAid National lunch clubs, involvement in established events such as the Sports Ball, as well as creating the very popular SportsAid Quiz, now an annual event. Betfair’s employees have also done their bit through team fundraising and volunteering.
