Ian Wright - The man who miraculously predicted England's World Cup qualification!
Lay Fulham to beat CSKA Sofia @ 2.3
Lay Shaun Murphy to beat John Higgins @ 2.6
Back Australia to beat England @ 1.6
Treble pays @ 4.6
Jaymes Monte looks to emulate last week's Nostradamus like predictions of Derren Brown and Ian Wright in his weekly treble....
After Derren Brown correctly predicted the lottery numbers on Wednesday then revealed his method on Friday, I am waiting for Ian Wright to do the same. In The Sun's latest advertisement campaign 'Wrighty' predicted that England would qualify for next summer's World Cup, but he did so before they had even qualified!!!
England had only won seven of their seven games at the time of prediction and still needed a point against Croatia or victory from either of their other two remaining fixtures to secure a place in South Africa. Yet here we are marvelling at the accuracy of 'Wrighty's' prediction.
So come on Ian, tell us how it's done. Give us a reveal all exclusive into the methods of your miraculous prediction.
Bet 1: Football - Europa League
Fulham won a vital Premier League fixture against Everton on Sunday and condemned their opponents to the relegation zone at this early stage. Coming from behind has rarely been Fulham's forte under Roy Hodgson, but two second half strikes put pay to that and got their first home victory of the season on the board.
This Thursday they travel to Sofia for their first taste of European group stage action. CSKA Sofia will be the opponents and will provide a suitably stern test; they are currently top of the Bulgarian Premier League, having won four and drawn one without conceding a single goal from their five fixtures.
There is a distinct lack of European experience in the Fulham squad which suggests that away trips to places such as Bulgaria will provide more than a test on the field. They aren't the greatest travellers in domestic competitions and I cannot see any reason why they should be priced up as favourites here, so the value has to be to take them on.
Selection: Lay Fulham to beat CSKA Sofia @ [2.3]
Bet 2: Snooker - Premier League
Ronnie O'Sullivan romped to victory in Shanghai last week and barely got out of second gear, I'm no psychologist but I get the feeling that he may have sorted his head out and this could be the year that Ronnie finally realises the dominance of the game that he has always threatened.
Two of the Shanghai semi-finalists will meet in the Premier League on Thursday night in the shape of world champion John Higgins and world number three Shaun Murphy. Given both players' performances in reaching the semis this promises to be a high quality match up.
This will be Murphy's first appearance in the Premier League since the 2005/06 season when he failed to make it past the group stage proving to be a little tentative under the shot clock restrictions. Higgins returns after last year's disappointing group stage exit looking to regain the title that he won ten years ago, he has also made three final appearances in those intermittent years.
Higgins is a seasoned pro in this form of the game and will be able to take advantage of Murphy's lack of practice under the pressure of the dreaded beeps.
Selection: Lay Shaun Murphy to beat John Higgins @ [2.6]
Bet 3: Cricket - England v Australia, 5th ODI
Based on the four ODIs to date in this series it is hard to make any sort of case for the hapless England in this fifth encounter. So I won't.
There's no point trying to find reasons as to why England may win this match, or look for angles which may suggest that the hosts are the value bet because there aren't any. Australia have not been in danger of losing any one of the four matches at any stage and the [1.6] available on them to take a 5-0 lead at Trent Bridge is a must back for me.
The only danger to the Australian juggernaut is that they may be tempted to take their foot off the peddle having already wrapped up the series. But with Ricky Ponting back in the side and keen to avenge their Ashes defeat I'd say the only thing on the Australian's mind is to secure a humiliating white wash in this series.
Selection: Back Australia to beat England @ [1.6]
