Roma need to be winning matches such as these if they are to close the gap at the top of Serie A and this trip to Catania is a very winnable fixture for them...

Roma will have seen Saturday's home tie against AC Milan as a great opportunity to draw level on points with them and also close the gap on Inter Milan, albeit for just 24 hours. They failed to achieve the first of their two objectives after the goalless draw on Saturday night but luckily for them, Inter also drew 0-0 at home to Genoa on Sunday night, meaning it's all still to play for in Serie A.

It's testament to Roma and in particular the managerial skills of Claudio Ranieri that they're still in contention to win the league despite having been without their two most likely sources of goals in Luca Toni and Francesco Totti for the last few weeks. They're unlikely to be without this duo once again this weekend but the good news for Roma fans is that they could hardly have hoped for an easier trip than travelling to Livorno.

Currently lying in 18th place, they have won just 4 of their 14 home fixtures and if Roma play to the best of their ability and can create enough chances for the talented Mirko Vucinic and former Arsenal forward Julio Baptista, they can take all three points here and this time really pile the pressure on Inter and AC Milan.
