Return of the champions and an Island adventure Ronaldinho might not have relished.
This week on Betfair Live Video there's racing throughout the week from England, Scotland and Ireland.
The summer of sport continues as the ATP tour arrives in Amsterdam for the Dutch Open and the Studena Croatia Open is also taking place but the main events this week are for those already licking their lips in anticipation of the new football season.
European competition officially begins this week with the first round of the UEFA Champions League. It doesn't seem like five minutes since John Terry was teary in the Moscow rain and a relieved Cristiano Ronaldo was uttering the mortal words, "I stay," but that's modern football folks - time passes, listen, time passes - and a host of clubs, from Llanelli to two times Uefa Cup winners IFK Gothenberg take their first steps on the long road to Rome on Tuesday (July 15) and Wednesday (16).
Thursday sees the first round of the UEFA Cup when fair play award winners Manchester City face EB/Streymur in their first compeitive fixture under new boss Mark Hughes. City should be confident going against the Faroe Islands part-timers but they will have to make sure they get through if they are serious about enticing Ronaldinho to Eastlands.
There's also action from the Russian, Japanese and Brazilian football leagues on Saturday and Sunday.
