Daniel McDonnell joined the Irish Independent in 2006 as a soccer reporter, and was appointed soccer correspondent a year later. Previously, he worked with the Irish Star Sunday and as a freelance with a variety of Irish national newspapers, uefa.com and Newstalk where he is now a resident Eircom League pundit. He is a keen punter, mainly on National Hunt racing but also on domestic football and golf.
