Andrew Hughes
Andrew Hughes is a writer, gambler and amateur cricket watcher who has always retained a healthy suspicion of professional sportsmen and like any right-thinking person, rates Neville Cardus more highly than Don Bradman. He used the proceeds of his most successful Betfair wager (You’re Special in the 2006 Cheltenham Festival at 80-1) to set up the Campaign for Reintroduction of Uncovered Pitches. He enjoys the first morning sip of Earl Grey, Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s shuffle, VVS Laxman’s leg glance and the surrealist commentaries of Henry Blofeld.
