Just when the Joker was ready to believe in Angelholms, they let him down. There was no divine intervention last night, only those by Haddad, Lindh and Andersen, who combined to smash the 2.5-goal barrier and with it the dreams of your columnist.

Solace, though, apparently comes in the form of the first leg of Velez Sarsfield's Copa Sudamericana second-round tie with fellow Argentineans, Banfield. These two drew goallessly in April, one of Banfield's many recent low-scoring Primera Division games - since March, seven of eight away matches have not breached the 2.5-goal barrier. In the same period, seven of Velez's nine home games been similarly contained and in this competition it's 6/7 since 2005.
