Bundesliga Betting: Bremen are Lahms to the slaughter

Bayern Munich aren't quite the gung-ho side they were under Ottmar Hitzfeld but defenders such as Philip Lahm are still better known for going forward than keeping goals out.
Best bets: Back Bayern Munich to beat Werder Bremen @ 1.66, back Stuggart -1 at 1.98 against Freiburg and over 2.5 goals in Leverkusen v Hoffenheim @ 1.66.
Razhan Miran tells us the stories that made the headlines in the Bundesliga last weekend and where we should invest our money this time round.
Very few surprises last weekend meant that it was business as usual in the Bundesliga, as last years' form dictated the results. Great news for us of course, as we look ahead to this weekend's betting opportunities. But first, a look back at the round one highlights.
The Winners
Wolfsburg got off to a flying start last Friday with a two-nil win over Stuttgart, and look set to continue where they left off with Felix Magath last season. Armin Veh, now the man in charge, made few changes to the winning formula his predecessor had concocted as they impressively disposed of a confident Stuttgart side.
The Losers
Will Werder Bremen ever learn? After only the first game of the season, whispers are that maybe Thomas Schaaf has taken his side as far as he can. Football has changed, and it seems that the veteran coach refuses to change with it. Falling behind on three occasions, his team fell to an embarrassing home defeat by this year's relegation favourites Frankfurt in a three-two thriller.
And Werder are in the spotlight once more on Saturday, as they face Bayern Munich at the Allianz in this Weekend's showpiece event.
Bayern Munich Vs Werder Bremen
It was almost twelve months ago that Werder recorded one of the best results in their history. A miserable start for Jurgen Klinsmann, then the Bayern manager, was made unimaginably worse as they were torn apart in a crushing 5-2 home loss.
But of course things have changed since then. There are hints of Bayern returning to the solid unit they once were under Ottmar Hitzfeld, where conceding more than two in a game was unheard of. That said, pace at the back does still seem to be an issue, as they found against Hoffenheim last week.
Many of those who played in that defeat last year will look for revenge, and Van Gaal knows that winning the hearts of the Bavarian people and a statement of intent to the rest of the league rests with tomorrow's result.
Not a fair price in my opinion, but seeing as though it is all you can get, back the [1.66] on Bayern to take all three points tomorrow. I cannot see any other result. The Bayern No Clean Sheet could also be an interesting market, and right now it shows "yes" at [3.15] and "no" at [1.43]. Finally, take the 2-1 correct score at [9.0], which looks increasingly likely.
Stuttgart Vs Freiburg
Stuttgart faced a tough challenge in the opening game of the season last week, losing to last seasons' champions. They will be raring to get off the mark this week however, as Bundesliga newcomers Freiburg face one of the toughest away trips in Germany.
The [1.55] available is a decent price, as is the Stuttgart -1.0 in the Asian Handicap at [1.98]. Take the 2-0 and 3-0 correct scores at [9.8] and [14.5] respectively as well as these were the most common results for Stuttgart at home last term.
Leverkusen Vs Hoffenheim
As two of the Bundesliga's more unpredictable sides, I wouldn't like to predict the result of this one. However, if there is one thing we can be relatively certain of its goals, as was the case in the same fixture last year which ended 5-2 to the home side.
Both chalked up a single point last weekend, and will be aware that all three is not beyond either on Saturday. This could be a cracking tie, so take the over 2.5 goals at [1.66], and if you are feeling brave enough, the over 3.5 at [2.7]. Not the most glamorous fixture this weekend, but surely the most entertaining.
