Eduardo scored the winner via a fortuitous deflection off his knee but those who backed Arsenal as high as 11.5 really won't care....
"Other teams expected to go very close are Real Madrid ([6.2]), Chelsea ([6.6]) and Arsenal ([13]) who by hook or by crook did get their Champions League campaign off to a positive start in that they walked away with all three points."
Arsenal overcome Standard Liege in the end as Inter Milan and Barcelona play out a goalless draw...
Arsenal pulled off a super comeback, after being backed as high as [11.5] on Betfair, as they eventually beat Standard Liege 3-2 in the most entertaining match of the night. Having gone two goals behind within five minutes, they eventually won thanks to a late Eduardo winner. The final score line was a [48.0] chance but the 2-1 half-time lead in Stuttgart's favour was backed even higher at odds of [70.0].
There was a regulation 2-0 win for Sevilla over FC Unirea Urziceni with Luis Fabiano's goal in first-half injury time a good result for those who had fancied the home side to be up going into the break at prices as high as [11.0]. In France, Lyon left it slightly late before beating Fiorentina by the single goal with the home team drifting to [2.6] before their 76th minute winner.
There was no predictable win for Stuttgart however; Markus Babbel's side went 1-0 up and traded as low as [1.13] but they allowed Rangers to score without giving themselves enough time to grab the winner - the draw traded at [9.2].
The most glamorous and high-profile match of the evening contained several intriguing sub-plots: Jose Mourinho once again facing the side where he spent several years as assistant manager and Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning to the San Siro in his first ever-Champions League match for his new team. But despite several clear-cut chances, Inter Milan v Barcelona finished 0-0 with the draw only ever touching [3.5].
Barcelona remain the [5.1] favourites to successfully defend their Champions League crown, something no one has ever been able to do, whilst Inter Milan are also well-fancied at [12.0]. Other teams expected to go very close are Real Madrid ([6.2]), Chelsea ([6.6]) and Arsenal ([13]) who by hook or by crook did get their Champions League campaign off to a positive start in that they walked away with all three points.
