Cirrus des Aigles is well fancied for the Dubai Sheema Classic
Champion Stakes winner Cirrus des Aigles will come from stall eight as he attempts to win the Dubai Sheema Classic on March 31....
Cirrus des Aigles defeated So You Think and Snow Fairy in the Group 1 over a mile and a quarter at Ascot last autumn but was beaten at shorts odds on his reappearance at Chantilly earlier this month.
Cirrus des Aigles has plenty to spare over his nine rivals judged on that Ascot form, but if he doesn't improve for that pipe-opener as expected then it leaves an open renewal of the Sheema Classic.
The challengers are headed by Aidan O'Brien's St Nicholas Abbey (drawn nine), who will be having his first outing since landing the Breeders' Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in November. The trainer's son Joseph keeps the ride.
Mike de Kock runs Balanchine winner Mahbooba (four), while the Godolphin challenge comes from Shimraan (10), Cavalryman (five) and Songcraft (one).
William Haggas will saddle his undefeated four-year-old Beaten Up (three), who recently had a racecourse spin at Wolverhampton.
