The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Grade1

This is a spectacular race to kick off the championships with some very talented fillies. A few weeks ago I was talking about Bob Baffert with regards to his recent good fortune and I think Indian Blessing is a worthy favourite in this hot contest at around 3.3. I am not going to give up on Irish Smoke yet as I don't think she handled the Polytrack at Keeneland last time out so I am having a saver win and place on this daughter of the speedy Smoke Glacken. Unbeaten Proud Spell is another talented filly to consider.

The Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile Grade1

All I can say is that I am still reeling from the defeat of Majestic Warrior in The Champagne but I always try to learn when I go racing and as previously reported, War Pass is a deserving favourite for this very strong renewal. I think that Tale Of Ekati and Pyro may give him most to do. War Pass really impressed me in The Champagne and he held on really well after going clear in the lane. I will be backing him at around 3.2.

The Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly And Mare Turf

One of the bravest fillies around is Nashoba's Key. I have mentioned her in previous articles and I will be backing her win and place at around 5.3. She is unbeaten but this is her first race outside California and she will get a severe test. Joe Talamo is only 17-years-old but he rides like a veteran and this daughter of Silver Hawk will have plenty of assistance in the saddle. Lahudood for me is a lively outsider at around 16 and is worth a saver.

The TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint

This race really close to my heart as a friend of mine won it a few years ago with Cajun Beat. I think this rests between Midnight Lute and Greg's Gold. The former comes into the race in sparking form after destroying a good field in the Forego while Greg's Gold arrives after a very unlucky second to Idiot Proof in the Ancient Times at Santa Anita. If backing Greg's Gold spare a thought for young Greg Boswell who was tragically killed when a car failed to stop at a give way sign. Greg was suffering from Down's Syndrome but it did not stop him from competing in the Special Olympics and winning a gold medal. His grandfather named the horse after him and if he wins it will be a very special moment indeed.

The Netjets Breeders Cup Mile.

Nobiz Like Showbiz for me in this contest. Once again I did my money on this one in last year's Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park when (like Majestic Warrior a few weeks ago) I thought he was a good thing. Since Tagg has switched him to turf he has been a revelation and I think the late decision to run him in this event is significant. I think After Market and Kip Deville will be the main dangers.

The Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff

Another superb race in prospect but I think Todd Pletcher has a stranglehold on this one. He has three running but I think that it rests between Indian Vale and Unbridled Belle. This is a good betting heat so you can back them both at around 7.4.

The John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf

These distance races do not really appeal to the American audiences but Dylan Thomas is a deserving favourite in this heat. I am having a bit of win and place on Grand Couturier but only to small stakes. Another to consider for a place is Shamdinan who won The Secretariat in fine style.

The Breeders' Cup Classic

What a way to finish this great day at the Jersey shore. I have spoken in detail about most of these before but I think the two that will decide who is world champion are Lawyer Ron and Curlin. These two gave racing fans a real treat with an epic stretch duel in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont with Curlin getting up close home. I must mention Street Sense, Hard Spun and Any Given Saturday who as I have previously stated, are the best crop of three-year-olds I have seen in along time. The Eclipse award will be decided here but I really don't think there is much between any of the mentioned horses. If you are ahead for the day the I would just sit back and enjoy. If you are behind I would back Lawyer Ron at around 5.0.

Well that's it for another week. I hope all of you enjoy this great event wherever you are and if you are at Monmouth you should really take a moment to savour the unique atmosphere that the Breeder's Cup offers. And dont forget to tip 20%!
