Timeform turn their attention to the trainers in-form - and out of form - on the country's all-weather tracks.
With jump racing fixtures decimated by frost this week, its worth focusing on the Flat handlers who have their strings in good form for the upcoming all-weather meetings.
Michael Wigham has made a flying start to 2009. River Kirov completed a hat-trick on January 7 to give the trainer two winners from just four runners in 2009. Although River Kirov also supplied Wigham's only winner in December, seven of his 18 other runners reached the frame. Having started the new year in such good style, Wigham will be hoping to continue his run of form throughout the coming months.
Mark Johnston is another who enjoys plenty of success on the all-weather, and he is operating at a 50% strike rate during 2009, with three winners from six runners. The Kingsley House trainer was also in good form throughout the final month of 2008, highlighted by a treble on the 10th December, with Holberg, Battle Planner and Nightjar initiating an across the card treble.
One trainer who hoping his own cold snap ends soon is Brian Baugh. He has gone 132 days and 51 runners without success, his last winner coming courtesy of Tanforan at Haydock on August 8. Baugh will have suffered further angst of late with the rejuvenated Joe Jo Star, bought out of a seller and sent to Richard Fahey, scoring over hurdles at Musselburgh and on the Flat at Wolverhampton on both outings since leaving his care.
