"Epsom-based Jim Boyle has started 2010 the same way he ended 2009, sending out three winners since the turn of the year and others such as Party In The Park and Alfie Tupper running their best races for some time in defeat"

Not even the all-weather has managed to completely escape the freezing conditions of late, but there's been enough racing on sand to know there are several trainers in red-hot form

Epsom-based Jim Boyle has started 2010 the same way he ended 2009, sending out three winners since the turn of the year and others such as Party In The Park and Alfie Tupper running their best races for some time in defeat. Wunder Strike has been a revelation, notching his fourth successive handicap last week and still doesn't look as though he's reached his limit.

Alan Bailey is another in great form of late, eighteen of his thirty-one runners since November finishing in the first three and nine being successful. Imprimis Tagula has been his biggest success story, winning four handicaps, but he probably needs to make further improvement to defy a further rise in the weights at Lingfield on Saturday.

Mark Johnston is hitting his usual strike rate through the winter, currently operating at 22%, but there have been several instances in recent weeks of his horses being over bet and, not surprisingly, he's making a level-stakes loss in the all-weather season.

David Evans currently tops the prize-money list for trainers this winter but, whilst he has done really well with the likes of Bestowed, it needs pointing out that he's sent out considerably more runners than any other trainer and is operating at just a 12% strike rate.

A trainer worth steering clear of at the minute is Mel Brittain. His Mozayada was prolific at Southwell last winter but Brittain is without a winner from 32 runners on the all-weather this time round.
