Major Cadeaux has something to prove on his comeback run for his new yard, but holds outstanding claims if anywhere near his best. City Dancer and Eton Rifles will be there to pick up the pieces if he fails to live up to expectations.

Garnica was a multiple Group winner on testing ground in France but was below par both starts for new stable in the spring and has been gelded since last seen.

Major Cadeaux was a smart performer for Richard Hannon, winning twice at Group level in 2008. He shaped as if retaining all his ability on his return in the spring and will be hard to beat if proving as good for new yard.

Beckermet was a very useful front runner in his day, winner three times at listed level, but is struggling to recapture best this term and has never been one in which to place maximum faith.

Burnwynd Boy has tumbled in the weights and ran easily his best race for present yard when third in Bronze Cup at Ayr on Friday. The balance of his form leaves him with an uphill task in this company, though.

Eton Rifles showed blistering pace to land a handicap in the mud over this trip at Haydock in May. Highly creditable efforts all starts since, but likely to need a few to under perform to take this.

Fourtowns Flyer showed some speed on belated debut at Cork in August, but looks to have been thrown to the wolves here.

Pawan is a tough hold-up performer but his win-to-run ratio doesn't set the pulse racing. He has been known to run above himself on occasions, but not worth considering for win purposes.

Sea Salt posted a personal best when chalking up a second win of campaign in a low-grade handicap over this trip at Thirsk recently, but looks out of his depth here.

City Dancer is an Irish import who has done little wrong in decent contests this season without getting her head in front. She shaped as though still in form last time though, and this is easier than she's been used to of late.

Horse To Avoid

Muhannak improved significantly in 2008, winning three times prior to memorably securing the Breeders' Cup marathon at Santa Anita in October. Unfortunately things have gone very much awry for Ralph Beckett's son of Chester House since. He let his supporters down badly at Kempton in the September Stakes when, having looked reluctant to go to post, he then cocked his jaw and pulled himself up after barely three furlongs. Muhannak did at least get all the way round at Wolverhampton last week but still looked most temperamental and far from keen when pressured. He looks hard to trust on recent evidence.

This looks a good opportunity for Vertigo On Course, a fast-finishing third at Southwell last week. Young Dottie's success last month is working out well and she also makes appeal, while each-way players could do worse than side with Toolentidhaar....

Timeform Daily: Saturday, Wincanton, 13:20

Despite being the senior citizen of the party, Mister Nous retains plenty of ability, and having won five times in France appears ready to open his British account. The Rainbow Hunter could be more deadly now switched to handicaps and looks a big threat to the selection, with Strategic Plan rated third best....

Timeform Daily: Friday, Catterick, 15:30

Jim Tango is open to improvement over fences, and this looks to be Miss Pross' easiest task for some time, but the likeable Bamby gets the nod with conditions to suit back over fences....

Timeform Daily: Thursday, Southwell, 15:20

The two handicap debutants could be the ones to focus on here, with Ambrogina favoured more than Seamster. Knightfire will have to settle for a place again....
