Alfie Sherrin won a maiden point in January 2008 and he made a most impressive start to his hurdling career at Fontwell last Sunday, says Timeform. .
This six-year-old created a favourable impression when winning a two-mile bumper at Chepstow in between (in November), looking well above average as he made the running and had his rivals in trouble from some way out, winning by ten lengths in the end. His latest success, on his hurdling debut, was equally encouraging. Upped in trip to two and three quarter miles, Paul Nicholls' gelding jumped fluently barring a mistake three out and was ridden right out to win comfortably by sixteen lengths from Ballycarney. He's bred to stay well so he should have no problem with a step up to three miles and he looks to have plenty more to offer.
