"War Of The World has shown he’s effective on more testing ground, and he’ll be just as good back around two-and-a-half-miles."
They make an impressive trio and they're only going to get better - Timeform take a look at three horses for whom the future is bright...
War Of The World caught the eye when winning a competitive handicap chase at Stratford on Saturday. The seven-year-old proved tricky to win with for his previous stable, but like so many before him he looked a different proposition on his first start for Tim Vaughan, immediately getting back more than half of the £18,000 paid from Mouse Morris at Doncaster Sales last month. He was possibly value for a bit more than the four-and-a-half-lengths winning margin, too, making smooth headway to lead approaching two out and seeming to idle in front. War Of The World has already shown he's at least as effective on more testing ground, and he'll be just as good back around two-and-a-half-miles.
Rangefinder justified strong market support when winning a competitive twelve-furlong handicap at Thirsk on Saturday. The Luca Cumani-trained five-year-old, successful five times in Italy, has taken a bit of time to get his act together since coming to this country, but the stiffer test of stamina at Thirsk brought about marked improvement and he should continue to give a good account, gradually windings things up having been close up throughout and holding on cosily from Sanctuary.
Australia Day could hardly have been more impressive when landing the odds in a maiden at Worcester on Sunday on his reappearance, making the running and still pulling for his head as he drew clear of Fred Kennet in the straight. The Paul Webber-trained gelding, who holds an entry on the flat at Doncaster this week, already looks well treated on his jumps form, splitting First Point and Joe Jo Star when last seen in the sphere, but his smart Flat form leaves even more room to manoeuvre and he's definitely a two-miler to follow back in handicaps.
