Timeform take a close look at three horses on the up...

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Workforce produced a highly promising debut display to land a seven-furlong maiden (for juveniles) at Goodwood last Wednesday, quickening six lengths clear of runner-up Oasis Dancer. Sent off the 3/1 favourite, the Khalid Abdullah-owned son of King's Best overcame a wide draw to produce a useful performance on the bare form, with there promising to be significant improvement in the locker. Workforce was quoted around the 25/1 mark for the both the 2000 Guineas and Derby with most bookmakers, and judging by pedigree at least, a step up to middle distances should be suitable.

Laaheb only started his career in June this season, but the three-year-old has rapidly been making up for lost time of late, showing highly progressive form while winning three of his last four outings. Laaheb's most impressive display came in a Class 2 handicap at Pontefract last Thursday, when the Michael Jarvis-trained gelding produced a dominant front running display to easily deny William Blake, in the process producing smart form. Laaheb is likely to be put away for the season now, and looks one to follow as a four-year-old, with further improvement still likely and a mile-and-a-half looking well within his reach.

Michael Jarvis looks to have another exciting four-year-old prospect in the shape of the unbeaten Rainbow Peak, who showed an impressive change of gear to land a mile-and-a-quarter Classified Stakes at Ascot on Friday. After winning a competitive maiden at Kempton on his debut in May, the gelding sustained a hairline fracture of the pelvis, forcing him out of action until last week. Considering Rainbow Peak only saw daylight in the final furlong, it was an extremely promising display, and with a mile-and-a-half likely to suit, the son of Hernando looks a smart prospect.
