Rock On Ruby has a win ratio of 50 percent

"Back at BSP pre-race and then lay off odds-on for double your stake, but make sure Rock On Ruby is still winning for you."

Neil Munro discusses what we learned about three in-running chances on a dramatic Boxing Day of racing...

Brussel sprouts, turkey, Christmas pudding, mad old grannies, presents that will be on e-bay before the day is out, too much drink, arguments; don't you just love Christmas! And so on to Boxing day - Kempton, the King George, loads of racing. What a relief. So what did we see on a great day of racing?

Rock on Ruby

And indeed Mr Walsh did. Paul Nicholls six-year-old now has a win ratio of 50 percent and proved with this run at Kempton that he is top level. I was really impressed with the fact that he probably went off a little too fast but still managed to battle out a finish to come a close second to Binocular. If connections can get another win into him I think he could go very close to reversing the form in the Champion Hurdle. He travelled supremely well and I believe if he had jumped the last a little cleaner he could well have won here. Because Rock On Ruby travels so well he does catch the eye and with four low odds-on trades to his name in five defeats I would be tempted to trade on him in-running to lock in a profit.

Back at BSP pre-race and then lay off odds-on for double your stake, but make sure Rock On Ruby is still winning for you.

Somersby

Henrietta Knight and Terry Biddlecombe are two of the main characters in the National Hunt game but I think that Somersby is becoming a bit of a character as well. The seven-year-old is becoming hard to win with, and although he was always going to find the King George a tough target, his previous run at Huntingdon was a very winnable opportunity. In 14 defeats he has traded at half his BSP in the run 13 times, a 93% strike rate. And six of those trades have been at odds-on as well, so for a horse that doesn't win as often as you would like you can get the field winning for you. And we would all love to be able to make money out of horses that are hard to win with.

Back small at BSP pre-race and then lay out 150% of your stake at half the BSP and then put up an offer to lay more at odds-on.

Fabulu

Donald McCain has bigger stars, obviously, but I like the natural front runner as he enjoys bowling along and quite often finds more than expected. He put in a fantastic effort in the four mile chase at Cheltenham when finishing sixth and he loved a bit of cut in the ground. He travelled well for a fair way at Ffos Las on his seasonal reappearance but it appears he needed the run so will be worth looking out for over the next few months. Fabulu has traded odds-on five times in eight defeats so back to lay has to be the trade.

Back pre-race and then lay out your stake at around evens, with an additional offer to lay at deep odds-on.
