's chances of ending up as top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival next week improved markedly on Tuesday.
Trainer Colm Murphy finally confirmed Walsh as the jockey for Champion Hurdler, Brave Inca, while further downpours in Gloucestershire over the weekend have prompted Martin Brassil to report that he is now "very tempted" to run the mudlark Nickname in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Nickname has forced his way into Champion Chase contention by winning his four most recent races, the last three with Walsh in the saddle. He is second favourite at 6 behind Well Chief (2.9) in the Betfair ante-post market.
Brave Inca is at 5.4 in the Champion betting, behind only Detroit City (3.8), and Walsh will be hoping to maintain his 100 per cent record on the nine-year-old having ridden him just once when successful in the December Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown.
