Sunday Racing: Paul Nicholls on his runners at Fontwell

Paul has a trio of horses in action at Fontwell on Sunday afternoon, including the mercurial Celestial Halo...

Vico

Dual point winner who will make his mark jumping fences but can pick up a staying novice hurdle before that - and hopefully it will be this, though it's a fair race. Was beaten at odds on his reappearance but that form could be alright - the winner Buck Magic is unexposed and hasn't run since and they pulled 23 lengths clear of the third. Wouldn't want the ground too soft.

Celestial Halo

Came back to something close to his best when just losing out by a nose to Mille Chief at Wincanton last week, where he probably would have won but for a mistake at the last. That was a particularly good performance as he was giving 4lb to the Champion-bound winner, too. We took Celestial Halo out of the Champion at the latest forfeit stage as I think the 2m4f race at Aintree is ideal for him but we had this race in mind for him before Wincanton - but Wincanton was too good an opportunity to pass up with just five runners for the prize on offer. The obvious doubt is if the race comes too quick for him after a hard, battling race, and we have never backed him up so soon before. But he seems to have come out of the Wincanton race fine - in fact he is as fresh as paint - and is clearly the one to beat if on his A game once again today. Conditions should be fine for him here, too.

Ornais

Came back from over a two year absence when fifth to his old stablemate Turthen at Wincanton earlier this month. Although that run was light years away from his best - he was a high class novice chaser in 2008 - that run delighted me, as he needed it badly and has come on enormously for the run. We rode him more negatively than usual there because he wasn't 100 per cent fit, but it is fair to assume that he will be ridden more handy today. Has the Grand National as his aim, where I quite like the look of him off 10st 4lb. I expect a very big run here, but I suppose that there is always the possibility of a bounce after these big absences.

Why is the amount of races between 6 or 8 at all meetings.why can't we have more and make it a full day out especially in the summer or at weekends wouldnt that increase turnover.thanks
