"Take The Breeze may ideally want softer ground than this, was put 6lb for Ascot, and has to give weight away all round here. But Ryan takes off a valuable 5lb, has won over hurdles on this course and it was good ground at Aintree, so I am hopeful of a good run."
Just three horses in action for Paul at Sandown but here are his extensive thoughts on the trio...

Rebel Du Maquis: Developed into a fair novice hurdler last season and impressed on his first two starts over fences, recording a wide-margin success over 2m5f at Cheltenham and then following up with an odds-on win over 2m1f at Taunton. Had a difficult task under his double penalty in better company at Cheltenham last time, and finished third. But he was probably left in front too soon there after the fall of Othermix, being left with a clear lead only to be swallowed up from 2 out. Is clearly a smart novice chaser worth his place in this line-up, but I don't think he is as good as the handicapper does and he will be doing well to win in this company as this look a very hot race indeed. His options are limited from a mark of 146, though he has had a nice break since his third and this trip and good ground will suit him well here.

Prince Tom: Was a beaten favourite on his first two starts this season but we made more use of him when winning by 4 ½ lengths at Taunton last time under today's jockey Ian Popham. Takes on a better class of rival here and has been raised a harsh 13lb from Taunton, so he has his work cut out here. But the track should at least suit.

Take The Breeze: Improved to finish third at Aintree on his final start last season, and I got him primed to run at Ascot in October - some paddock watchers thought he looked a bit big there but he had done loads of work before that run, and he is a horse who always looks big and well. He ran really well at Ascot but just lost out by 1½ lengths after looking to set to win on the run-in. After Ascot, I targeted him at Haydock a fortnight ago, only for the frost to claim that meeting, and the weather again intervened at Doncaster last week. May ideally want softer ground than this, was put 6lb for Ascot, and has to give weight away all round here. But Ryan takes off a valuable 5lb, has won over hurdles on this course and it was good ground at Aintree, so I am hopeful of a good run.
