How will they fare at Hereford?
"If Ascendant runs to his best, then he has a clear winning chance."
Five of Manor Farm's finest go to post at Hereford - here are the great man's views on his quintet

Oscarslad
Won a maiden point in February and we gave him a breathing operation after he pulled up next time. Made his hurdling debut at Wincanton last month and ran well up to a point before eventually finishing a well beaten sixth. Clearly needs to improve a good deal on that to figure here.
Saint Roque
Is a half-brother to three winners, notably the high-class staying chaser Quito De La Roque. He was an impressive eight length winner of his only Irish point and the form has worked out very well, with the second, third and fourth all winning next time. Does everything right at home but, at the risk of sounding boring and repetitive, I will reserve my judgement on him until I see him on the track, as I do with all my pointers.

Egypt Mill Spirit
Has shown only fair form in bumper and novice hurdles, probably running his best race when third at Fontwell in October. There is improvement in him but he needs to learn to settle if he is to progress.
No Loose Change
Showed progressive form in Irish points, winning his final start in that sphere, and someone fancied him to go well on his hurdling debut as he was backed into 7-2 at Wincanton. I don't know where that money came from but I was more than happy with his fourth to Rolling Aces there - he wasn't knocked around when beaten there - and would hope he can build on that. But this looks a fair race with bumper winners Wings Of Icarus and One Term in the field, and a newcomer of Donald McCain's.

Ascendant
Is a rare runner for me in a seller but we pitch Ascendant into the lowest grade on his first start for us. That may seem strange given that he won his last start by 14 lengths in a Sedgefield handicap hurdle, and that would appear to make him better than a plater, but I think this is his level on what he has shown me at home. But if he runs to his best, then he has a clear winning chance.
