Paul Nicholls: My Tuesday runners at Chepstow and Kempton

View market

After the drama of King George day, Paul returns to Kempton with four runners as well as one at Chepstow. Below, he discusses his horses' chances...

Take The Breeze

Was undeniably disappointing at Kelso last time, where his jumping let him down. Has at least come down 3lb in the weights and this trip on heavy ground should suit him ideally. More than capable of winning this if returning to his best but he needs to start showing it on the track. Ryan takes 3lb off.

Ranjaan

Had decent staying form on the Flat in France and, although I was slightly disappointed that he didn't manage to win on his hurdling debut at Newbury, the winner is a very smart horse and the third has won subsequently. Was unfortunate to fall at Doncaster last time (he hit a swinging hurdle) and he has worked and schooled really well since, including over baby fences yesterday morning. Gets 10lb from his main form rival Kie, so let's hope he can get back on track here.

Violin Davis

Is 11lb higher than when winning by 13 lengths at Wincanton on her penultimate start and although running respectably when third to Whoops A Daisy in a listed mares hurdle over course and distance last time, she rather spoiled her chance there with some sloppy jumping. Hopefully that was just a bad day at the office here and Harry takes off a handy 7lb too. The ground will suit.

Takeroc

A good winner over 2m on good ground at Aintree in October, he showed very smart handicap form when third to I'msingingtheblues off a mark of 145 at Ascot last month and was still in contention when falling three out at Cheltenham last time. This flat track should suit, and he has lots in his favour - apart from the level of opposition! Is clearly up against it at these weights if the likes of Wishfull Thinking and Finian's Rainbow perform to their best.

15:10 Kempton

Promising Anshan

Ran a smashing race when third at Ascot on his reappearance and we fancied him to build on that effort when third at Cheltenham last time, but he clearly didnt run to that level of form and was beaten when falling two out. Whether that race came too soon for him or he didn't act on the track I am not sure, but he is in good order at home - he is very fresh and well - and he has to have chances here if coming back to the Ascot form, especially with Harry taking 7lb off.
