Domtaline in action
"Domtaline wouldn’t be the best handicapped horse in the race, but Harry takes 7lb off and I think the step up in trip will suit him and he comes here a fresh horse."
Paul sends out just two runners this weekend and they go in the same race - the 14:50 at Kempton - so read on for exclusive insight into that pair
14:50, Kempton
Domtaline
Didn't really come up to expectations last season but he made no mistake when winning a handicap by nine lengths on his reappearance at Chepstow in October. We raised him in class at Haydock last time, and in hindsight there was clearly no disgrace in finishing a nine length third to Grandouet there.
Wouldn't be the best handicapped horse in the race, but Harry takes 7lb off and I think the step up in trip will suit him and he comes here a fresh horse. Is not always the most fluent of jumpers, though, and he will need to be at his best in that department today to have a chance of taking this competitive contest. Will go chasing after this.
American Trilogy
Made a pleasing reappearance, but didn't jump particularly fluently, over fences when fifth over fences at Doncaster last month. Won a chase over this course and distance last February, and he is fit and well. Is theoretically well handicapped off a mark of 137 if you look at his hurdling exploits in the spring of 2009, when he won the County Hurdle by 11 lengths off a mark of 135 and then followed up with a neck second at Aintree.
But that was obviously quite a while ago and he would appear to have a place chance at best here.
