Sir Henry Cecil has announced that Frankel is back on course for his seasonal reappearance in next month's JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury having survived a recent setback...
The superstar colt, who earned a Timeform master rating of 143 last season, making him the fourth best horse in the history of the organisation, is now reported to be back in training after a veterinary scan on Thursday gave the all-clear.
The Lockinge Stakes will be the season's starting point for Frankel who will initially race over a mile this season before being stepped up to ten furlongs as he bids to extend his unbeaten record of nine starts.
Other Lockinge possibles at this stage are Excelebration, who runs in tomorrow's Gladness Stakes at the Curragh, Strong Suit and Cityscape, though the last-named the Dubai Duty Free winner is expected to run in Hong Kong on May 6 instead.
Frankel is currently trading at (1.728/11) for the Lockinge and at this stage he's considered 10 lb superior to Excelebration, his nearest form rival.
