We've retired The Brigadier, so meet the new man in the Betfair stable

Every day the LayDough computer analyses a carefully selected race and calculates what the true odds should be for every runner.

Many professional punters do the same thing every day so they can identify the horses at good value and poor value.

The LayDough Betting Barometer odds are then compared to the current market price on Betfair so a logical decision can be made whether to back or lay the runner. The lower the rating below 100 then a horse is increasingly POOR value for money - the higher the rating means a horse is increasingly GOOD value for money. If a horse has a LayDough Betting Barometer rating of exactly 100 then the current Betfair price is totally in line with the LayDough rating.

Each day we will recommend a lay or back depending on what the graph advises, but the focus of the service will be on finding horses to take on at poor odds.

Today's Race: PLUMPTON 13:20

Recommended Bet: Lay MERLINS's MAGIC to win 2 points

Place Lay: MERLIN'S MAGIC to win 3 points

1.5 points win HERECOMESTHETRUTH

2 points place HERECOMESTHETRUTH

'Merlin's Magic' is trading much below the computer prediction odds of [5.5] so has to be our first lay for the new service on both the win and place markets. The grey has finished runner-up in all four of his starts this season - but was well beaten in his last two races and could prove vulnerable again in a race where several runners are open to improvement.

At the other end of the scale 'Herecomesthetruth' looks great value, we predicted odds of [4.5] so the near double figure odds at the time of writing are extremely appealing. A former point winner in Ireland he shaped well enough on his debut over here when fifth in a Chepstow bumper and we'll again cover in the place market.

* Herecomesthetruth finished first
* Merlin's Magic finished unplaced

To find the lay in the race to tell me to lay even in the place market too is beyond my understanding BUT you also found the winner in both the win and play market ??? I so wish I did as you suggested, I layed in both markets but placed no bet arghhhhh. Read and act what is the problem with that ... am I sooo daffy I cannot follow sound information ??? Thank you very much for the LAYS £52 in the place market £105 in the win market. I owe you a bottle of something to your taste .....

    Many thanks, very impressed
