I'm originally from Mallow in North Cork and I've been attending race meetings there since I was a toddler. My introduction to betting was via my elderly next door neighbour who was the best tipster I ever met. I would hand in her dockets to Alf Hogan's betting shop on the main street and collect the winnings that evening. She often pulled in over a hundred quid for a 5 pence yankee or patent. My first big bet was having 20 pounds on Dawn Run to win the Gold Cup and I've been hooked ever since.
I currently write for the Evening Echo in Cork giving tips for the weekend and writing on anything to do with racing. I also have the occasional flutter on Golf , Darts and Cricket.
