Horse unseats rider but is remounted and goes on to land third place...
There was carnage over the jumps at Towcester on Saturday and presumably for one layer's bank account after an unseated horse got up to finish amongst the places in the opener.
Betfair's new in-play place market allowed one backer to strike a bet at the maximum odds available - at that time the exchange's ceiling price of [1000.0].
The horse, Celtic Society, was in touch during the early skirmishes of the three mile handicap chase for conditional jockeys but encountered trouble at the eighth and promptly refused to have a crack at the ninth obstacle. It was presumably at that moment when one layer took his or her chances with a lay at the top price.
But the good to soft ground was causing problems for most of the field and only four of the 13 horses in the race got round to the finish line.
Luckily for the Celtic Society backer his selection was one of the few to make it.
