Sunday winners please!
"The Shy Man was a most impressive winner on his return at Aintree in the autumn when beating Racing Demon 11 lengths with a competitive field strung out behind him, and went on to catch the eye form much of the race behind Grands Crus at Haydock next time."
Rory Delargy will be in Timeform Radio's Cheltenham studio to go through today's racing at with Lorna Bradburne and he's found a monster bet at Market Rasen
The Shy Man (16:25 Market Rasen) is a horse I've always liked, and while he has a decidedly patchy profile at first glance, a bit of analysis makes him look a betting proposition today.
He was a most impressive winner on his return at Aintree in the autumn when beating Racing Demon 11 lengths with a competitive field strung out behind him, and went on to catch the eye form much of the race behind Grands Crus at Haydock next time. While he has disappointed since, two of his races were in qualifiers for the Pertemps Final and on unsuitably testing ground.
The Shy Man has yet to be placed over hurdles on ground described as soft or worse, so it's not hard to forgive his recent lapses. Today's going is being called good by Market Rasen's clerk Sulekha Varma, and that should suit George Moore's son of Grand Plaisir perfectly. A Betfair price of [10.0] is more than tempting, too.
Elsewhere on the Rasen card, Ballybriggan looks to have an outstanding chance in the novice hurdle at 16:55, whilst a win for Iona Days for Henrietta Knight and Camilla Radford in the last would be very timely with Somersby due to run in the Champion Chase in 3 days and the yard showing signs that a wretched run may be nearing an end. It would, of course, be bittersweet consolation for Hadden Frost, who rides today, but not on Wednesday.
But the next best bet comes at Warwick where Deputy Dog can take the opener for Jonjo O'Neill, A P McCoy and Gay Smith. The combination landed a double at Fontwell a few days ago to signal that the Jackdaws Castle outfit was finally firing on all cylinders, and Deputy Dog can keep the ball rolling at a price of [5.2]. The yard's Bob Hall is likely to make it a double in the 2½m hunter chase later on the card.
Recommended Bets:
Back The Shy Man in the 16:25 Market Rasen @ [10.0] (NAP)
Back Deputy Dog in the 14:05 Warwick @ [5.2] (NB)
