Exeter in the sun - a pleasant setting for an afternoon's racing
"Going back right-handed will definitely suit Dancing Mist [9.0], as will the step up in trip... "
David Cleary turns his attention to a Devon track this afternoon for a pair of cool bets...
The 13th is certainly unlucky for anyone having to suggest a winner or two, for it would be hard to match the three UK meetings today for their mix of tricky handicaps and trappy maidens or novices. Perhaps the 15:10 marathon handicap chase at Exeter provides the best opportunity, with the topweight Dancing Mist [9.0] up against a rabble that is even more unreliable than he is. Going back right-handed will definitely suit him, as will the step up in trip and he's possibly still unexposed as a chaser.
Half-an-hour later, the three-mile handicap hurdle could go to Very Cool [5.4] who ran encouragingly at Chepstow last time in a race that has begun to work out well. He would be very well in on his old form and is preferred to Dr Hart. Cullahill [8.8] is the other interesting runner, if fit after a lengthy lay-off, with the promising Nathan Sweeney in the saddle.
