There are four Grade Ones at Leopardstown today, David Cleary has suggested bets in two of them
Leopardstown provides the day's top action with no fewer than four Grade 1 events. The PJ Moriarty Novice Chase at 14:40 looks open. Roberto Goldback has won the last twice and is respected but he beat Cousin Vinny at Navan only through superior fitness. Cousin Vinny didn't jump so well next time but must be kept onside at the likely prices. However, Zaarito's form, particularly in splitting Captain Cee Bee and An Cathaior Mor at Naas, stands up even better. He fell last time but looks a sound jumper on the whole and is the main fancy in a cracking contest.
Just over an hour later the Hennessy Gold Cup at 15:45 is in theory a consolation for those beaten in the Lexus at Christmas, so looks ripe for a potential improver. Cooldine is the obvious one but he has something to prove after his last two runs and is short enough so a chance is taken on Made In Taipan. His form at two miles gives him half a chance and on breeding he ought to be well suited by stepping up to three miles. His best run over hurdles was over a testing two and a half, so it's surprising he's yet to race much beyond two miles over fences.
