The form of his second at Navan in December looks solid and he pulled a long way clear of the remainder when touched off by Double Double here last time. A point winner, Robert Tyner's gelding shaped like a stayer when winning a bumper in November and has already run to a level good enough to win most maiden hurdles.

Recent winners Oscar Hill and Owennacurra Milan, as well as the returning Scholars Mate, are sure to attract plenty of support in the very competitive www.gowranpark.ie handicap hurdle at 15:05. However, one that should go well at a bigger price is the top weight Ad Idem. He has looked in the grip of the handicapper over fences of late but ran really well over hurdles at Naas earlier this year and remains on a fair mark in this sphere. The emphasis should be on stamina here with plenty of prominent racers in the field, which will suit Ad Idem, and the promising Brian Hayes is taking a handy 7 lb off his back.

The beginners chase at 16:10 is not a strong race of its type and with plenty of the market leaders having questions to answer it may pay to side with Magdoodle. She has improved significantly over hurdles this season, winning handicaps at Navan and Thurles, and ran right up to the pick of that form when third to Cadogan on her chasing debut at Navan earlier this month. That form is working out quite well and Magdoodle is open to improvement over fences.
