The action at Leopardstown gets underway at 13:10.
"Scottish Boogie's not got many miles on the clock and looked a horse with untapped potential when third over this course and distance around Christmas time..."
Day one of a cracking weekend of action at Leopardstown sees plenty of big fields, but Timeform's Irish team have come up with three more SmartPlays.....
Aupcharlie has been expensive to follow since joining Willie Mullins, turned over at odds on at Thurles and Leopardstown. That form is still good enough to make him a leading contender in the 13:45, though, while he left the firm impression he needed further than two miles on the second occasion (now upped to two and a half miles). The pick of his bumper form, when third in last season's Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, came away from very testing ground as well.
The Boylesports.com Hurdle has attracted it's usual bumper field (30 declared), but this year it looks a race where progressive types are thin on the ground, so taking around [8.2] on Scottish Boogie makes plenty of appeal. He's not got many miles on the clock and looked a horse with untapped potential when third over course and distance around Christmas time, left with a lot to do the way things panned out and sustaining his effort well. Obviously, he'll need his fair share of luck in running given the field size and nature of the track, but looks sure to go close granted a fair shake of the dice.
The big-field handicap chase on the card just over half an hour later does look ultra-competitive, but the prize for solving the puzzle will be rewarding as a result and Silent Creek makes plenty of appeal. His record when fitted with a tongue strap reads 15143, and the latest two efforts prove he's returned from a break at least as good as ever. He should be suited by this move away from heavy ground (strong-travelling sort) and is now partnered by the highly promising Ben Dalton for the first time, so should give a good account.
