Eric McNamara's gelding remains open to improvement over hurdles and should have too many gears for the likes of Benefitthewest.

The aforementioned Mind The Steps is in action in the next race (19:20) as he attempts to add to his sucess at Kilbeggan on Sunday. However, he was made to work hard for that win and a mandatory six-pound penalty means he has to carry 12-1 here. It is hard to know how much more improvement is left in Mind The Steps and he may struggle to give weight to the consistent Van Wyck. Francis Flood's horses are in good heart at present and Van Wyck didn't do a lot wrong at Cork last time, leading narrowly two out but just unable to keep tabs on a trio that came from much further back. A reproduction of that form may be enough to see him home here.

Fine Call makes more appeal than most in the jogforjockeys.ie handicap chase at 20:20. The daughter of Milan won a handicap hurdle over this trip at Cork last season and hinted at better to come over fences when fourth in a qualified riders handicap at Punchestown in October. She disappointed at the same track last time but her subsequent absence suggests that all might not have been well with her. Fine Call has joined a shrewd yard in the interim, isn't fully exposed over fences and Pat Mangan takes a handy 5 lb off her back.
