"Street Act did this column a favour when winning at a nice price last time and I am not about to desert him in the 15.25."
Mutahadee continued Stephen Molyneux's good run when winning at Meydan on Friday. Timeform's Dubai Handicapper brings you three more SmartPlays for Saturday's card at the track...
I selected Maath Gool as one of my horses to follow at the beginning of the season and whilst I admit it's a concern he's not been seen until now, he should still be worth risking in the opening handicap at 14:15. He made his debut in the same maiden as stablemate Zafeen Speed (now Timeform rated 116), at Meydan last season, finishing over four lengths ahead and arguably shaping better than him. He then comfortably won a maiden next time before facing a very stiff task in a minor event on his only other outing, again shaping very well (forced wide) in finishing around some confirmed useful performers in seventh. Whilst I acknowledge it's pushing it to suggest that Maath Gool can be as good as Zafeen Speed given the water that has flowed under the bridge since their debuts, he won't need to be to make a big impact off a mark of 80 on his handicap debut.
Street Act did this column a favour when winning at a nice price last time and I am not about to desert him in the 15:25 after just a 4 lb rise for that success. He only won by a length in the end but as was the case the time before, he forfeited plenty of ground when making a sweeping move around the whole field and I felt he did very well to maintain his advantage inside the final furlong. He's been done no favours with the draw again, but the handicapper has taken a lenient view in raising him just the 4 lb and, as long as he can secure a good early position, he should take plenty of beating, particularly with the promise of more improvement over this trip.
The 16:05 looks a competitive heat but Azameera still stands out after her promising effort at the track last time. She won a couple for Clive Cox last year and was still progressing in defeat subsequently, a point emphasised by her sixth place behind stable-companion Capital Attraction on her recent debut for this yard. She was left hopelessly positioned in relation to those who finished ahead of her and hopefully she will get a cleaner run through this time from a good draw, the step up to a mile a further boost to her chances.
