"Favourite Girl is potentially well handicapped on the form she showed when third at York last summer. She shaped as if she'd returned in good heart when fourth at Ripon a fortnight ago and she has got to be one for the shortlist here."

A six furlong handicap is the highlight of Thursday's card at Redcar...

Floor Show had some fairly useful form to his name for Ed McMahon last season and didn't shape too badly for his new yard over seven furlongs at Musselburgh earlier in the month, tiring only late on. Six furlongs should suit him well.

Solar Spirit knocked on the door several times without success for his current yard last season (tried in headgear). He is potentially well treated but his reappearance effort suggests he may take a few runs to strike form.

Haigh Hall is a speedy filly who showed fairly useful form in two outings for Tim Easterby at 2 yrs. She shaped as if in need of her first outing for nearly two years at Musselburgh recently and may do better this time.

Favourite Girl is potentially well handicapped on the form she showed when third at York last summer. She shaped as if she'd returned in good heart when fourth at Ripon a fortnight ago and she has got to be one for the shortlist here.

Bonnie Prince Blue won a claimer at Cagnes-sur-Mer (AW) in January and has remained in form since, he was short of room for much of the final two furlongs when fifth at Thirsk on his turf return earlier in the month. He has place claims.

Klynch was a winner in the mud at Haydock in July but he has never convinced with his attitude and has been unable to get near that level since, including in three starts for his new yard (formerly with Brian Meehan).

Bravely won from a 3 lb lower mark at Newcastle (5f) in July. He went well fresh last year so cannot rule out another bold showing here, though the jockey bookings suggest he's this yard's second string.

Maze is on a long losing run and no there was no immediate sign that a change of yard (formerly with Bryan Smart) has made any difference at Ripon a fortnight ago. He is none too genuine.

Tangerine Trees rattled off a hat-trick at Hamilton last summer and improved again when winning at Pontefract on his reappearance. A 5 lb rise won't make life easy but he's clearly in good form.

Methaaly is back down to the mark he won off at Warwick in September and shaped encouragingly when third to Sir Nod on his return to turf at Thirsk earlier in the month. He is one to consider.

Who's Shirl showed improved form last summer, winning over six furlongs at Newcastle. Her yard has not saddled a winner since, though, and the percentage call is to oppose her on this reappearance, for all she's still fairly handicapped.

Verdict

Favourite Girl is potentially very well handicapped and looks the one to be with after an encouraging reappearance at Ripon. Methaaly has dropped to his last winning mark and can get involved after a good return to turf at Thirsk
