"Strike Shot confirmed debut promise when winning a maiden at Haydock, but things went downhill subsequently last summer, barely beating a rival in four runs after that win"

It's back to the Flat after a fascinating few days of National Hunt action and the final race on Windsor's card looks one of the more interesting contests.

Basle offered plenty to like when second on her debut at Kempton and made no mistake when going one better in a maiden at Wolverhampton later in October. She should continue to progress and holds leading claims.

Ferris Wheel's encouraging debut fourth at Salisbury was followed by a clear-cut victory at Kempton (6f). She was well held on her final 2-y-o outing, however, and she's likely to want further than this in time.

Katehari kept on well when getting off the mark over course and distance in August and she rounded off her 2-y-o campaign with a good third in a nursery at Goodwood. She has slower ground to deal with this time.

Kerchak's best effort in four runs as a two-year-old came when a keeping-on third in a Newmarket maiden on the penultimate occasion. He has a chance on that form and may still have more to come.

Key Light is a nicely-bred filly and she confirmed debut promise when winning a Kempton maiden on her second start. Further improvement is needed to take this but she should still be thereabouts.

Kings 'N Dreams finished in the frame twice from 3 starts up to 7f last year (fair form at best). She is bred to want more of a test than this, however, and others make more appeal.

Olney Lass improved with each of her three starts as a 2-y-o and she is one of a few who is proven on testing ground. She needs to have improved again over the winter, though.

Quaestor went close on a couple of occasions at 2 yrs but has been disappointing both comeback runs this year and has something to prove at present.

Starlight Muse was twice placed in all-weather maidens earlier in the year but will need to improve on them if she is to make an impact in this company.

Strike Shot confirmed debut promise when winning a maiden at Haydock, but things went downhill subsequently last summer, barely beating a rival in four runs after that win. Risky proposition.

Verdict: Basle has looked a good prospect in two runs to date and can make a winning return to action here. Katehari and Key Light may prove best of the rest.
