"Thebes is a useful front runner who added to his haul in a six furlong handicap at Wolverhampton in February. He is arguably best at that trip, but he could get his own way in front here and has got to come into consideration."

Back to the all-weather where Lingfield plays host to a competitive seven furlong handicap..

Al Muheer enjoyed a productive 2009 for Clive Brittain, winning twice on all-weather and a valuable handicap at Ascot. He produced a poor effort for his new yard at Meydan last month but the fitting of a visor may help (blinkered last term).

Icelandic is a smart performer on his day. He ran creditably over five furlongs here on his reappearance last year and can't be ruled out if he's primed for action. He has raced mainly at sprint trips recently but he has won over seven furlongs.

Eisteddfod is smart at up to seven furlongs, he has been lightly raced since winning a minor event at Kempton in March 2009. He has produced some fair efforts in that time, but he needs to step up on his two runs this term to figure. The cheekpieces are back on now.

Vitznau is a strong traveller who made no mistake when winning off a 4 lb lower mark at Wolverhampton last month. He shaped as if still in form last time but he needs things to fall right the way he's ridden.

Autumn Blades was formerly ungenuine, but he has been building up a good strike rate on all-weather in recent times. He finished a good second over C&D on his penultimate start and he didn't get the race run to suit last time. He has a place chance.

Thebes is a useful front runner who added to his haul in a six furlong handicap at Wolverhampton in February. He is arguably best at that trip, but he could get his own way in front here and has got to come into consideration.

Imprimis Tagula was much improved on all-weather over the winter, winning four times in November/December. He has not been at his best of late, though, and it's probably best to look elsewhere until he shows he's back in better form.

Titan Triumph lost his way around this time last year, but boasted a good strike rate on polytrack prior to that and it would be no surprise if he bounced back after an absence for a yard in notably good form.

Noble Citizen is an inconsistent performer. He has produced just respectable efforts this year but is well treated on the pick of his form and this trip is probably his optimum so can't rule him out altogether.

The Scorching Wind took his form to a new level when edging out Bravo Echo and Autumn Blades over C&D in January. He has not had things go his way both starts since and probably remains in form. He is one to bear in mind.

Verdict

A very tricky contest but there's just a chance Thebes might get his own way out in front and he's got the right man on board to judge things. Autumn Blades and The Scorching Wind have both acquitted themselves well in similar events over C&D already this year and are a couple of others to consider.
