Goodwood hosts a strong renewal of the Richmond Stakes on Friday
"The Paddyman looked Group class when winning a 6 furlong Yarmouth maiden by 8 lengths"
Six juveniles line up for the Group 2 Richmond Stakes...
Libranno is unbeaten in two starts, and showed big improvement to win the July Stakes at Newmarket, making all the running. He sets the standard on that effort, even with a penalty, and his stable has already won two big 2-y-o prizes here this week.
Marine Commando is also two from two, and he overcame some trouble in running to land the Windsor Castle (5f) at Royal Ascot. He promises to prove at least as good over this longer trip.
Roayh developed well earlier in the year, winning a Leicester maiden prior to mixing it with the best juveniles when third in the Coventry Stakes. However, he has questions to answer after a below par run last time.
Satin Love overcame greenness when winning a maiden at Hamilton by 5l on debut. It's significant that his powerful stable is fast-tracking him to a Group 2 so soon, but it's a big ask against smart and hardened 2-y-os.
The Long Game has plenty to recommend him on pedigree and physique, and improved to win a maiden at Ascot in clear style, looking better the further he went. That form is still a long way off what's required here, though.
The Paddyman looked Group class when winning a 6 furlong Yarmouth maiden by 8 lengths, unextended. He's very much the 'dark' horse here, with plenty more improvement in him, and he should make his presence felt.

Timeform View:
A fascinating race, with a host of highly promising juveniles. The selection is Marine Commando, who won in spite of a troubled passage at Royal Ascot, and could be even better at this distance. The Paddyman looks a big danger after his wide-margin maiden success last time, while Group 2 winner Libranno should be thereabouts despite his penalty.
