"Remember When is a three-parts sister to Arc winner Dylan Thomas and she is smart herself for all she's still a maiden, finishing a close fourth in the Irish 1000 Guineas twelve days ago. She should stay and there is every chance we have still to see the best of her."
The best fillies gather for the third classic of the season...
Akdarena seems to have turned over a new leaf since being fitted with blinkers, making all in a listed race at Navan in April and a Group 3 at Naas in May, the latter by seven lengths. She is stoutly bred and should relish twelve furlongs.
Aviate is an attractive filly who is unbeaten in three starts, most notably the Group 3 Musidora Stakes at York last month when bursting through late after being cramped for room. She is likely to stay and is still unexposed.
Awe Inspiring is an imposing filly who has improved from humble beginnings with each run in maidens, finally getting off the mark at Cork in April on her fourth attempt. She will stay twelve furlongs but this is a big step up in class.
Bikini Babe showed she'd trained on when second in the UAE Oaks at Meydan in February. She was readily brushed aside by Aviate at York last time, though, and her record of one victory from 10 isn't that of an Oaks winner.
Cabaret won twice over seven furlongs at 2 yrs, including in a Group 3 at Leopardstown. She went off favourite but failed to impress in the paddock when below-form seventh at York on her reappearance. She needs to have come on a bundle.
Ceilidh House impressed when overcoming a tardy start to win a mile maiden race at Nottingham in October on her debut. She acquitted herself well when finishing third in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on her return and she is open to further progress.
Champagnelifestyle was an emphatic winner on the July course on her debut, and was past her best on her only subsequent start at 2 yrs. She finished a good third to Gertrude Bell in a listed race at Chester on her return and will strip fitter for that outing.
Gertrude Bell has progressed well given the chance to tackle middle distances this term, winning at Newbury and the listed Cheshire Oaks at Chester. She is solid but perhaps lacks the touch of class required.
Marie De Medici is a useful filly, she has produced good efforts in listed events at Newmarket this spring, dictating when winning the Pretty Polly Stakes on her latest start. She had been brushed aside by Rumoush the time before, though.
Meeznah is a well-bred filly who confirmed the promise of her two juvenile runs when a wide-margin winner of a four-runner maiden (1½m) at Newmarket three weeks ago. This is a different ball game, however.
Remember When is a three-parts sister to Arc winner Dylan Thomas and she is smart herself for all she's still a maiden, finishing a close fourth in the Irish 1000 Guineas twelve days ago. She should stay and there is every chance we have still to see the best of her.
Rumoush is from the superb family of Nashwan, and did it easily when winning the listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket in April. She was found out by the draw in the Guineas but she ran well in the circumstances and has to be respected.
Sajjhaa is a King's Best filly out of fairly useful 1¼m winner. She lived up to her reputation when storming clear in a thirteen-runner maiden at Sandown on her debut fifteen days ago. This is a stiff leap in class but she could be anything.
Snow Fairy came up short in Group 3 company at 2 yrs after her maiden win but was much improved when landing a ten furlong listed race at Goodwood on her return by three lengths from Pipette. She is not sure to stay the extra two furlongs.
Timepiece is from a choice family and was the ante-post favourite for this following a listed event win at Newmarket in October. Things have not gone to plan with two defeats this spring, however, and she has a bit to prove now.
Verdict
No outstanding candidate here, but REMEMBER WHEN is clearly progressing along the right lines and is bound to have a say if improving for the longer trip as seems likely. She's preferred on value grounds to Aviate, who also has plenty going for her, while at bigger odds Ceilidh House shouldn't be underestimated.
