Two of today's SmartPlays come from Wolverhampton
"Greenhead High has been thriving on the all-weather this winter, and looks set to go well in the six furlong handicap at Wolverhampton....."
Following on from two successful selections from two yesterday, including the bet of the day obliging at a Betfair Starting Price of [5.56], Timeform's SmartPlays team put forward three more bets for Thursday...
Greenhead High has been thriving on the all-weather this winter, and looks set to go well in the six -furlong handicap at Wolverhampton (14:35) this afternoon. Greenhead High has won two and been placed in five of his last seven races, a winner at five furlongs and just failing over seven furlongs at today's track in his two latest outings. Greenhead High's overall profile suggests today's six furlong trip is ideal, and he has a nice draw in stall two from which he should be able to execute his customary positive tactics. He is also able to race off the same BHA rating as when narrowly defeated at the course five days ago (due to go up 2 lb in future), so all things considered he has plenty in his favour.
The switch to handicaps and application of cheekpieces seem to have had a positive effect on Lady Bridget, and she is fancied to follow up her recent course-and-distance success in the 14:40 at Chepstow . The form of her win at the track six days ago has a solid feel, pulling readily clear of her chief market rivals, and a 5 lb rise looks perfectly fair. That win was on heavy ground, but she is proven on a less testing surface, and looks set to give her running again.
Moataz is a warm favourite for the mile-and-a-half handicap at Wolverhampton on the back of his comfortable win over shorter here last week, but he isn't certain to appreciate the mile-and-a-half trip, and is taken on with his owner's other runner Gabrial's Lexi (15:05), who showed improved form when stepped up to today's sort of distance at Lingfield last time. Gabrial's Lexi must defy a 4 lb higher mark after that runner-up effort, but she is still lightly raced and there should be more to come. With her stamina assured, it is hoped he can prove too strong for Moataz in the closing stages.
