Wolverhampton may be the only meeting to choose from in Britain today, but there's still value to be had with these three SmartPlays from the Timeform Free Form Site...

Beneath looks to have a solid winning chance in the opening apprentice handicap but at around the same odds, backing Flying Applause (14:25) to finish in the places looks the more viable bet. Roy Bowring's seven-year-old usually gives his running and can be excused his last two starts, finding his stamina stretched in 11 and 12f sellers at Southwell. Back in a handicap off a BHA rating of 52 (he won over six furlongs at the course last year off 50), Flying Applause can finish fast and late down to a more suitable trip in the hands of one of the more capable riders in the race, Charles Eddery.

Noel Wilson has saddled 100 runners at Dunstall Park during the last five years and the North Yorkshire trainer should be confident of making a successful start towards the double century with Drive Home (15:00) in the seven-furlong handicap. Drive Home is relatively lightly raced for a five-year-old, winning a course-and-distance handicap last time on just his fourteenth outing, and probably still has more to offer despite now finding himself on a career-high official mark of 62. While it is true that consistency has not been this horse's strong point so far, it's hoped that Barry McHugh has found the key to him and the partnership can remain unbeaten this afternoon.

Hawaana (16:05) hardly set the world alight with his course-and-distance return last month, finishing eighth of 13 to Archie Rice, but he's now back to the mark that saw him win an Epsom handicap last July and better is expected today with that run behind him. The fact that Gay Kelleway's charge has won over a mile on firm ground should hold him in good stead with the lack of front-runners suggesting the race could develop into a sprint and, with Hawaana already a winner at Kempton and Lingfield, he is overpriced to achieve the polytrack full house this afternoon.
