Timeform turn their attention to Lingfield on Sunday, providing you with their best three all-weather bets...
The Andrew Balding-trained John Biscuit has some solid form to his name and looks like an interesting proposition on his seasonal reappearance in the 15:40 at Lingfield. A winner of a handicap at Epsom in July, John Biscuit went on to produce improved efforts in defeat on a few occasions, notably on his final start of the campaign, once again at Epsom, where he finished a close-up third. He still appears to be on a fair mark and the application of a hood could also have a positive impact, so John Biscuit should take all the beating if ready to roll on his first start of the campaign.
The strong-travelling Free Spin has twice performed well since moving to the David Barron yard, finishing second on both occasions, and he holds strong claims of gaining a deserved success in the 16:10 at Lingfield. Dropping back to six furlongs last time, Free Spin took a little while to pick up, keeping on well without ever looking like getting there, and he should be suited by today's contest where there looks to be a fair bit of early pace. He still looks well treated and seems sure to launch a bold bid.
Our final SmartPlay comes in the following race, the 16:40, as we take a chance on Ensnare proving too good for his rivals. Not the most consistent of types, Ensnare returned to form when finishing third at Kempton last month, caught for second close home as the jockey eased him prematurely. His up-and-down profile does give cause for concern, but a replication of his Kempton performance would see him go extremely close and he can hopefully reward his supporters.
