Wolverhampton is the venue for Friday's best bet.
"The race could well tee up perfectly for Island Legend as, from a good draw in stall two, he can bounce out of the stalls and adopt his usual front-running style..."
Prevailing weather conditions ensure that all-weather racing is the order of the day, with two selections at Wolverhampton and one at Lingfield...
It is Lingfield's 13:20 that gets British racing underway on Friday, and the consistent Russian Bullet (13:20) could well be the answer to a low-grade sprint handicap. The three-year old improved towards the end of last year, landing similar races at both Wolverhampton and Kempton in December, and he has been running well in defeat of late, twice finishing second last month. There are concerns over both current form and stiff marks for a number of his rivals, whereas Russian Bullet is most likely to give it his best and rates as the most likely winner.
Moving on to Wolverhampton, where Munsarim (14:40) looks to have excellent prospects of landing the hat-trick in the claimer after wins at today's course and Lingfield last month. The Keith Dalgleish-trained five-year-old is allowed to race off the same BHA rating today as when last seen and, with tactics seemingly in his favour (looks to be very little opposition for the lead), Munsarim appears a solid prospect. He may be something of a restrictive price, particularly with Jordaura being a non-runner, but the hat-trick most definitely beckons.
Wolverhampton's 16:50 looks to be an interesting affair, in which trailblazing sprinter Island Legend appears to have a good chance of turning the tables with recent conqueror Blown It. The selection finished third to Blown It 11 days ago, beaten only a length, and receives a 6 lb pull today which ought to be enough to see him reverse the placings. Ingleby Star and Perlachy are both respected, as is Milton Bradley's other runner Triple Dream, but the race could well tee up perfectly for Island Legend as, from a good draw in stall two, he can bounce out of the stalls and adopt his usual front-running style; under jockey Dane O'Neill, who operated at an 18% strike rate last month, Island Legend could well take some pegging back.
